Congenital heart defects in Kabuki syndrome.

چکیده
BACKGROUND Kabuki syndrome (KS) is an entity of multiple congenital malformations with mental retardation with undetermined etiology. Congenital heart defects are one of the clinical manifestations of KS with insufficient elucidations. METHODS Literature of congenital heart defects associated with KS was comprehensively retrieved, collected and reviewed. The clinical features of the congenital heart defects in the patients with KS were summarized. RESULTS Congenital heart defects were one of the clinical manifestations of KS with 90.6% of the patients being diagnosed prenatally or at an early age. Left-sided obstructions/aortic dilation and septal defects were the fi rst two types of anomalies, accounting up to 46.1% and 32.9%, respectively. The most common congenital heart defects were coarctation of the aorta, and atrial and ventricular septal defects. Fifteen (19.7%) patients received surgical repair of congenital heart defects at a mean age of 0.8 ± 1.3 years. CONCLUSIONS Congenital heart defects are one of the clinical manifestations of KS with 90.6% of the patients being diagnosed prenatally or at an early age. About 20% of the patients warranted surgical repair of the heart defects. Patients with KS require close follow-up in terms of their etiology, clinical presentations and long-term prognosis.

The incidence of congenital heart defects in patients with Kabuki syndrome is estimated to be about 30%. To date, no specific type of heart malformation is known to be associated with the syndrome. A further 20 unselected children with Kabuki syndrome are presented. The incidence of heart abnormalities in these children is almost twice that previously reported (55%) and juxta-ductal coarctation...

PURPOSE Kabuki syndrome is a multiple congenital malformation syndrome, with characteristic facial features, mental retardation, and skeletal and congenital heart anomalies. However, the cardiac anomalies are not well described in the Korean population. We analyzed the cardiac anomalies and clinical features of Kabuki syndrome in a single tertiary center. METHODS A retrospective analysis was ...
متن کاملKabuki make-up syndrome (Niikawa-Kuroki syndrome) associated with congenital heart disease.
Kabuki make-up syndrome has been reported mainly among Japanese, so far occurring in more than 20 cases. Among these, however, only one case associated with congenital heart defect has been reported. We have treated three patients with this syndrome and of these two had congenital heart disease. We suggest the possibility that the association of congenital heart disease with Kabuki make-up synd...

Kabuki syndrome is a rare condition characterized by multiple congenital anomalies and intellectual disabilities [1]. The etiology of Kabuki syndrome is unclear, but the syndrome is known to have an autosomal dominant mode of inheritance. Furthermore, mutations in the MLL2 and KDM6A genes have recently been suggested as causes of this syndrome [2]. The five major clinical manifestations of this...
